The Universal

The Universal speaks to the common desire to express oneself through outward identities and the yearning to be known (or unknown) to an undefinable extent. The narratives I capture revolve around loss, change, and identity. The viewer is brought into the odd world of the photographs, where my physical identity is lost in the clothing, conveying a visual detachment. Although making myself invisible emphasizes what’s left, questioning what is absent is just as important as acknowledging what is physically present. Every figure is a self-portrait and a reflection of the fragmented self. The invisible characters become the parts of ourselves we hide, the memories we forget, and the identities we construct.
